I designed this tray for storing screws while working on laptops, generally M2~M3, x2~x12. On other tray and bin designs I tried, mostly my own, it was hard to remove the screws because they would get stuck in a 90 degree corner where you would have to pick them out. The sloped walls of this design ensure you should always be able to drag screws towards an edge, with the front edge coming together in a point.

The flat bottom mates with the raised lip  so they stack quite well and even snap together weakly, each serving as a lid to the one before so you can carry a stack. The flat bottom also serves to lower the center of gravity and widen the footprint so they're less prone to tipping.

I use this as a test print sometimes because it's fast and the result is a useful object; it's no Benchy but it will indicate whether the printer is in working order or not.

Printing

  • Print it standing upright normally
  • Use medium-low temperatures for best overhangs
  • Use a bright and vibrant filament that isn't 100% opaque, to make small parts more visible inside
  • It responds well to being scaled up, I've gone as far as 150% and these bigger bins have a nicer weight
