Description

This is a 3D printable housing for capacitive moisture sensors. It was designed to make your projects cleaner and more practical by securely holding the sensor in a sturdy enclosure while providing a neat cable output.

Why this housing?

Humidity sensors often come with short, messy wires. This housing solves that by offering the ability to connect:

  • The three original wires provided by the manufacturer.
  • Or, for a cleaner look, round 3-strand cables (22 or 24 AWG).

With this housing, you can easily use cables of any length, whether 30 cm, 1 m, or even 3 m.

Design and Compatibility

  • The sensor is firmly secured in the housing and won’t move once installed.
  • The housing can handle light splashes (note: it is not waterproof).
  • To avoid deformation of the housing, it is recommended to cut the pins protruding from the bottom of the sensor.

Required Materials

To assemble the housing, you will need:

  • 4 M3 nuts.
  • 4 M3 screws, 8 mm in length.

Assembly Instructions

  1. Prepare the sensor: Cut the pins protruding from the bottom of the sensor.
  2. Choose your connection method: Use either the original wires or round 3-strand cables (22 or 24 AWG).
  3. Assemble the housing: Insert the sensor, then secure the two parts of the housing using M3 screws and nuts.
  4. Finalize: Check that everything is in place and enjoy your clean, functional setup!

3D Printing

  • Material: PLA, PETG, or ABS (depending on your usage conditions).
  • Layer height: 0.1 mm recommended due to fine details in the model.
  • Infill: 20-30% is sufficient.
  • Supports: None required if printed in the correct orientation.

This housing is designed to make your projects easier while keeping everything neat and tidy. If you have suggestions or improvements, feel free to share! 😊
