I really liked the original model but I thought it would be even more awesome with a smaller ball inside it. So I made it. Here's a video showing how the inner ball can move freely inside the outer ball:

Support is necessary because the inner ball is printed “in the air”. The .3mf file was created with OrcaSlicer 2.2.0 and contains painted organic supports that reach in through the holes in the outer ball (see photo). Be sure that you don't accidentally change the support settings when switching to to your own printing profile. Getting the inner supports loose is quite easy, but getting them out requires a small-tipped tool, like a sturdy tweezers. I filed down the tips of my cheap side cutter (see photo) to be more like pincers. That worked very well to crush and remove the supports.

A wide brim is essential. I also painted in additional supports to stabilize the outer ball since I didn't want a 5 hour print to fail near the end due to low bed adhesion (this was a good idea in hindsight because it became slightly loose on my bed but still finished successfully and near flawlessly).

Printed in red glitter recycled PLA (“Funkelnde Kerze” from recyclingfabrik.com).
