This is a cheap and easy to construct gunstock for the Meta Quest 2 that i use myself all the time, its great for games such as: Ghost of Tabor, Contractors or basicly all VR shooters. It comes in at about 180 grams that is nicely balanced underneath the right hand, and it is very sturdy and durable.

Sidenote: I am still working on this stock, it is very usable in its current state, but i am still going to make some (mostly quality of life) changes. So the design might vary a bit, but i still want this stock to be out there as there are barely no printable stocks at the moment.

Date last changes were implemented:

There are 2 build options (I personally advise Option 2):

Option 1. No Magnet in Left Hand.

  • Cheaper (+)
  • Easier to make (+)
  • Harder to use (-)
  • Less interactive gameplay (-)

Option 2. Left Hand detachable by magnet

  • Way more fun to use (+)
  • Feels more realistic (+)
  • Overal better gameplay (+)
  • More expensive due to magnet (-)
  • Bit harder to build (-)

Materials you need, these can all be bought at a simple construction store like Gamma:

  1. 15x15x500mm square aluminium beam. (Abt. €5)  (Both Options)
  2. Diameter 20mm, Length 500mm aluminium tube. (Abt. €5) (Both Options)
  3. Bag of M4 10mm length Hex nut. (Abt. €3) (Both Options)
  4. Bag of M4 30mm length Hex nut. (Abt. €3) (Option 2)
  5. 2x Square Magnet 12x12x12mm. (Abt. €15) (Option 2)

(If you are wondering why i use 2 shapes of aluminium, this is because the alluminium pipe lays a lot better in your sholder as a stock. I might some day add the option for using only square aluminium beams, let me know if this is needed)

For the printing:
I recomend to print with 2 layer walls and 10% infill (doesnt really matter what pattern).
Make sure to turn on supports (Tree)!!!

Simple assembly Guide:

  1. Main stock part: Make pipes of 15cm and 20cm long, but please change this on own preference. Then place the longer one at the end of the big peace that has a 90 degree bend, make sure to screw it pretty tight using one of the holes. Then take the 15mm pipe and put it in the other end and screw it tight. Now take the last piece that has a about 45 degree bend and a square and circle hole. Put it on like seen in the picture and screw tight. Put your 50cm long square beam in here and screw tight. You can already place the end caps on here if you want (The small circle and square part)
  2. Right hand: Slide the right hand onto the square beam, make sure the controller is pointing to the front, screw in 3 m4 hex nut bolts into the 3 holes, while doing this place the small hex nut shaped prints over them so you can easily losen and tighten them while gaming.
  3. Left hand:
    1. Option 1: Just slide the left hand on there just like the right hand.
    2. Option 2 (No height): Slide the connector part with the square over the square beam so that the magnet part is to the left of the beam. Put the magnet in from the underside and put the 30mm bolt through the side to keep it in place. Then do the same on the controller holder, put the magnet in from the top (make sure the poles of the magnets are facing eachother) and put in a 30mm bolt to keep it tight. (Put the 30mm bolt in from the left side so the extended part goes over the square beam)
    3. Option 2 (With Height): Follow the same steps as on the other Option 2, just slide the height changer into the beam part and screw tight by putting 30mm bolts from the left that clamp against the square beam. For the rest its the same process as the other Option 2.
