Summary
A friend of mine has a Black and Decker WORKMATE 8" HOBBYCRAFTER (no 79-025) vise that was missing one of the plastic clamps. He asked if I could 3D print a replacement. I couldn't find any already existing online, so after receiving the unit for dimensions I whipped up a new design.
The original had some rubber on the clamping face, and that could be done here if desired. Simply adjust the HolderLength parameter in the Fusion 360 file to compensate for the thickness.
Print Settings I Used
- Printer brand: Prusa
- Printer: I3 MK3S
- Rafts: No
- Supports: Yes
- Resolution: .2
- Infill: 20%
- Filament brand: Prusament
- Filament color: Orange
- Filament material: PETG
- Notes: I printed with 4 perimeters and 20% infill. PLA would probably work. Since the shaft hangs out in free space support is required, but it comes off and cleans up easily.
Post-Printing
Optional Cleanup
The shaft was a bit squared off where the support material attached. While it fit the way it was, I used a file to round the edge there to allow it to go into the hole easier.
