This is another version of the Roman Dodecahedron artifact. This version prints as a flat model than can be folded/glued into a completed object. The corner balls are printed separately and use screws with attachment plates to secure them to the dodecahedron.
Notes
- I printed the dodecahedron model with PETG to facilitate easy folding without breaking the ‘hinges’. I printed on an OPXL5H with .4 nozzle and .25 layers.
- For the corner balls I printed them on an OPXL5H with .4 nozzle and .20 layers. The ball was printed in PETG and the supports are PLA. I did this to make the ball attachment face smoother. It was a little tricky getting the PETG to stick to the PLA, and you can find my settings in the .3mf project file. YMMV.
- I initially tried gluing the model pentagons with Gorilla Super Glue, but it didn't work well with Polymaker PETG. I ended up using water activated Gorilla Clear glue and securing the glued parts with velcro straps.
- There are 20 balls and 20 attachment plates. I used a 3x12mm pan head screw to secure the ball to the model/plate.
