Wire spool holders, I have gone through many different models and they all have their failures.

The original set I remixed these from solved many of the issues, a modular frame with no glue, and enclosed box frame to keep the spools from falling out, while still having windows to manually manipulate the spools, a working wire keeper that isn't just a notch, the wire will stay put.

This remix changes a few items, first off is rails, they are all identical, and there is a non insert option where you can just screw in your m3 screws.  Strip it out, no problem, use a longer screw.  The insert option is still nice if you go through your wire quickly.

Also for rails, I added rail length option, 4-5-6-8 & 10 for the mega combo.

I also modified the keeper to start at the build plate, so all items require no support.

In general, the box is more symmetrical, ie the spool is centered in mass, instead of being taller from the original.

That box seems to fit the generic white 55mm diameter 20mm width spools of which they sell many different varieties.  I also added a new set for a chunkier wire of 48mm diameter and 35mm width. I did only do the 5 cassette rails for that one, but can add other lengths upon request.

One note, the end caps have a .2mm false layer in the mounting holes, just poke through it with a screw.

As for printing, I just did the nominal .2 layer height, no supports, stock profiles for speed.  You'll need the following:

  • 2x end caps
  • cassette num - 1  spacers
  • cassettes to your desired # of spools
  • 3x rails
  • 6 m3 screws, any length, but the shorties work (say 8mm).
  • optional 6x m3 inserts, any length, cavity is 7mm deep.

happy printing!
