This model was made based on a puzzle I found years ago. It was made out of wood and was quite easily broken.
I'm a teacher at a school camp where we built an escape room. Obviously this requires students to problem solve, and what best to provide that opportunity than a puzzle lock.
The original puzzles broke easily at the hands of students, so I designed the original model and began to engineer and tweak it to solve the failure points, which moved with each iteration.
The final version (V3) uses not only reinforcement of the latch weak points, but also a channel to ensure the latch doesn't twist and give any leverage to the puzzle solver.
Any future updates I make at work, I will upload here as the following versions.
I am 70% of the way through a ground up redesign which will make it impossible to break and will use inserted nails for strength.
We had a shop laser cut perspex for the front I will upload an image of the shape/dimensions of this. I have uploaded a 3mf file of this front cover along with a dimensionally accurate drawing. You can either print the pdf and then cut out perspex, or if you are able to print clear, or clear enough, you could just print the file.
