3D Desk Organizer

Summary

Tired of spending money on useless, small organizers in stores? Are you also tired of having a mess on the surface of your desk? Come make this super convenient organizer for your desk! Whether you need makeup storage, or office supplies, this organizer can be used to store anything. The measurements are:

( L x W x H) is (25 x 20 x 20 cm). I brainstormed ideas, designed it on paper and finally created the 3D version of this shape in Solidworks for my final project in Engineering class. 

Lesson Plan/ Activity 

A recent analysis by the Staples finance department has concluded that sales for desktop organization products have declined in recent years.  The company would like to ramp up their profits in this area by enhancing the aesthetic nature of these products.  

Design Choices:

Originally, the measurement of this organizer were going to be (30 x 19 x 20 cm), however after consulting with my teacher, I had to change the length so the printer correctly prints the shape without getting too close to the edge. The new measurements of the  (25 x 20 x 20 cm)

My original plan design on the left had a solid drawer at the top and 2 small drawers at the bottom. For my convenience, considering what I needed this organizer for, I decided to switch the drawers the other way. 

After making the changes to my plan this is the design of the drawers. 

I also made little legs on 4 corners of the bottom that I extruded, which originally wasn't a part of the plan. I made 1 corner and pasted it on all four corners. I distanced these legs 0.2 cm away away from each wall. The extrusion is 0.3 cm.
