Stellated chess pieces with Staunton dimensions (30 mm foot diameter).
Suitable for PLA, PETG and other solid plastics and resin.
Not recommended for TPU and flexible filaments (the purple ones in the images were printed with TPU).
Requires supports, at least on critical points. I recommend using tree supports.
The thinner the print, the better the results.
Fairy chess pieces: Star pieces.
These pieces were created as parts for a developing chess variant that includes three star pieces: The eight-pointed star (represented by the piece with the dual tetrahedron), the twelve-pointed star (represented by the piece with the small stellated dodecahedron), and the twenty-pointed star (represented by the piece with the large stellated dodecahedron).
Movement of each piece:
- Eight-pointed star: It can move and capture as a queen and as a grasshopper (grasshopper: queen-hopper that can only move by "flying" over a piece).
- Twelve-pointed star: It can move and capture as a rook, as a grasshopper, and as a nightrider (nightrider: knight-rider that can move by jumping several times like a knight in one direction).
- Twenty-pointed star: It can move and capture as a rook, as a grasshopper and as a root-25 (root-25: a chess puzzle jumper that can move by jumping distances that are Pythagorean triples of 25, that is, it can jump in a 4/3 hypogonal or in a 5 orthogonal).
