A simple vertical drill guide that:
- uses strong, inexpensive, and easy to source hardware,
- is sufficiently tall for decent precision, and
- has a wide and comfortable handle for securing it.
All one needs is an angle bracket. I used an “Simpson Strong-Tie 1.548-in x 1.375-in x 2.048-in 18-Gauge Galvanized Steel Angle” bracket from my local Lowe's. It cost me less than $1. It is steel so it should hold to quite a bit of use.
