General Information:

This is a spool support that may be used for Sunlu S4.

Magnetic connection between the two holders.

Have a container to put molecule sieve inside to absorb H2O(g).

This filament holder solves the problem that [my] filaments spools rotate over-freely in the Sunlu S4 box and roll inside. This has caused some printing issue and I resolve this problem by using this model that I published here.

Requirements:

  1. At least four magnets 60mm*10mm*3mm (Buyable on Amazon)
  2. Strong instant glue
  3. A heat gun
  4. All printer accessories
  5. [Optional] Molecule sieve for removing H2O

Build instruction:

  1. Print ALL FILES TWO TIMES. This will give you one pair of filament holder (ONE SIDE ONLY)
  2. Glue magnets in the slots (N side to S side)
  3. Use the heat gun to heat up the thread on the MAIN and turn the corresponding parts in before it gets cold, than turn it out.
  4. Repeat step 3 until the LOCKER and the CAP work fluently.
  5. [Optional] Add the MOLECULE SIEVE into the MAIN and lock the CAP.

Installation:

  1. Put the MAIN body into the hole of the Filament SPOOL and put the LOCKER on.
  2. Place the two SUPPORTERs besides Sunlu S4's front and back wall. (Pay attention to the supporters' direction)
  3. Put one of the the MAIN into Sunlu S4
  4. Ensure that the MAIN is fixed into the SUPPORTER. (Usually, it is only fixed in XY direction, It may continue to rotate freely.)
  5. Put the other side of the MAIN.
  6. Turn this side and make sure that the magnets stick with each other.

Printing experience:

I printed the whole thing with PA66-CF. The overall strength of this design is sufficient.

Normally, this model functions without problem. I have already designed three versions and this version is the final one, which works correctly and does not depend much post-process. Printing this model may cost some filament; however, my design does not search to be filament-saving, beautiful, but functionable and durable. Almost no-reinforcement needed to match a USABLE state.

UPDATE: THE CAP DOES NOT WORK WELL. 3D Printed thread is really a bad idea. Please use M25 * 2 SET SCREW instead (10mm long).

Trying to design a beta-version which may hold itself rigidly in Sunlu S4 without using any glue.

PS. If anyone has the internal dimension of Sunlu S4, plz share with me so I could design the beta-version. Thank you.
