This pill popper can be used to insert very small pills into the mouth of your cat or other small pet.
One of our cats experienced seizures. The vet prescribed phenobarbitol, which prevents seizures, but the initial dosage left our cat lethargic. Took a while, and some blood work, but were able to lower the dosage to a level that worked, and also left our cat acting normal again. The dosage was ~ 7mg. The smallest pills available are 30 mg, so we split those into 4 parts, which leaves us with a pill 2-3 mm on a side ( < 1/8"). With most pill poppers we've tried, this small pill just falls out, so its difficult to use without losing the pill.
This pill popper is small enough to work with very small pills, those less than 5 mm (0.2").
I've included a sheath for the injector tube to help keep the prongs in the right position. As happens with store versions, I expect with multiple uses, the prongs will get slightly bent outwards and not hold the pill in place. I suggest printing extras, ie change out the injector tube as needed. I tested about 30 uses, the tube has held up so far.
The larger translucent white pill popper in the images is a store bought version for comparison.
The injector tube should be printed vertically with a brim (see pic's). Similarly print the sheath vertically. The plunger can be printed horizontally.
I printed versions with ABS, PETG, PLA, and Bambu TPU for AMS. The TPU was too soft. The others worked fine, i give a slight edge to PETG. Translucent Bambu Lab PETG was a particularly good choice, the pill and plunger are partially visible through the walls of the plunger. Be sure to clean away any bits of plastic before using.
