Printing Considerations:
The model can be printed without supports. (The images provided were tests without supports.) However, using supports might yield a cleaner print.
I’ve used PLA for printing, but if you plan to dry your filament using higher temperatures, PETG may be a better choice.
Desiccant Pellet Details:
The design uses larger diameter desiccant pellets.
For additional moisture control, you can insert sachets of desiccant around the holder. This is useful because the holder does not completely fill the spool hole.
Threading and Holder Design:
The thread is designed with left-hand (counterclockwise) turning, which is the opposite of the usual right-hand thread. This helps prevent the thread from loosening as the spool rotates.
The conical faces on the holder assist in tightening the structure during rotation.
Lid Construction:
The lid features a top subpart that is printed without any top or bottom layers.
It uses 35% grid infill, which forms a grid that retains the desiccant pellets inside the canister.
