I found that cans have more variation in diameter than expected. with my first version this caused some to be loose, or excessively tight. this 2nd version uses an internal compliant mechanism to put tension on the can, and allows for more variation in sizing. the 3rd picture shows a cutaway so you can see how it works, the mechanism is not visible from the outside, or at all once a can is in place. I suppose it also allows for some significant variation in printer calibrations as well. shown with felis domesticus for scale.
