Background
After I made a MOLLE plate version of a cool morale patch I have, I decided to make an Aliens themed one with the classic Weyland-Yutani logo on it.  As I was also getting ready to travel, I realized when looking at my hard side luggage that if I dropped the webbing attachment ends, I could use double sided mounting tape to update my bag.  So, I made that change, printed, and applied it and was pretty happy with how it came out when I thought to myself… you know, a Firefly plate would be cool too, and so would a OCP plate, and… in my head I just kept going through all the sci-fi stuff I love.

I figured rather than keep uploading new models and having to do a new description and all that, I'd just make a single “thread” and update it as I make new models, starting with Weyland-Yutani.

Compatibility
Some of them will work OK as multi-dimensional 2 color prints; a solid background, with raised text/logo for example, but others that will require multiple colors on the same layer will realistically need an AMS.  That being said, depending on the level of complexity, you could always slice the model, then add a pause before each required color change and do the swap manually.

I've tried to include a project file that has been painted where possible, otherwise the included STL files can be managed however you like.

Models
Here are the current models:

  1. [ALIEN] Weyland-Yutani, Building Better Worlds
Changes from original logo to support 3D printing:
    - I had to bump up the font on the text above and below the W logo so that it would print clearly and legibly.  I also found that white works best, though the original is in grey.

Pending
Here are some I've got queued up that I want to make.

  • [ROBOCOP] OCP Omni Consumer Products
  • HAL 9000
  • Starship Troopers
  • Buckaroo Banzai / Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems
  • Firefly / Serenity
  • Outland
  • The Black Hole
  • NASA
  • [ALIEN] Nostromo, Colonial Marines, etc.
  • [Interstellar] Endurance

Application
The MOLLE plate simply slips over the webbing of your desired pack/etc.  I attached the flat plate with 30lbs double sided mounting tape, and it is beyond overkill.

Material
I like to use PETG as it offers good UV resistance, as well as a bit of flexibility when compared to PLA, but it kinda boils down to what colors I have on hand.  The Aliens tag I used PLA for, and it has held up just fine both on my luggage, and as a MOLLE attachment.
