Because it's not the lightsaber's size that matters, but the heart of the Jedi who wields it.

Why
I wanted to print a half-size Collapsing Sith Lightsaber. I like to give these out as yads to new adults.
There are no original STL's here – they're all over at Collapsing Sith Lightsaber. I experimented with making my own blade years ago, but in the end, they weren't better than simply scaling @3dprintingworld's.
The point of this thing is to
- Save my notes on how to scale things – I usually print a batch of these at a time months and months apart
- Share the results in case someone else wants to do the same thing. It took a few hours of iteration to get the tolerances right
Printing the Handle
Print the handle at 50% scale in x, y and z
- I found that I needed to use a raft to keep it from falling over
Print the cap at 50% scale in z but 48% scale in x and y
Printing the Blade
The .3mf files have the scaling for the blade.
Note that I only print 3 sections, not 5. 5 sections made it too long for use as a yad.
If you want to try to scale those missing pieces, I find that the diameter between one blade section and the next should be reduced by 1.55 mm each step.
