I was using those plastic tags to label my planters to help remember which seeds I planted where. The sun faded them almost instantly, so I decided to 3D print a version instead. They look a lot nicer.
To make your own names, a row of blank tags are included in the CAD files. I used the “chalkboard” font 12 point if it fits (go smaller for longer names). Extrude the name 1mm. In PrusaSlicer, insert a filament change between the flat part and the letters. I used black PETG for the spike and white PETG for the letters because PETG can handle sunlight okay. I used a 0.6 mm nozzle, 0.32 mm layer height, and 20% infill which worked well. I have a Mk3.5 and printed on a satin sheet.
Update Sept 2025. This summer was so ridiculously hot, that some of my tags wilted along with the plants they were labelling. Maybe don't print them in black or don't live in Tucson. They were fine until the record breaking heat wave a couple weeks back.
