You need a t nut and 3 machine screws - the design is for M4x18mm size. If you need different sizes, the FreeCAD file is fully parameterized.
attach rod and gear and lock the rod in place using a screw from either side plus the washers → the gear should spin freely (0.3 mm clearance all around). carving the thread into the rod beforehand is recommended (just use one of your screws).
