This is meant as a DIY project, you can use any candle and wire you find. Make it your own creation and share it with us in the comments.

The hole in the models is 2 mm, so should fit most wires. Ask if you need a different diameter.

I used 1 mm wire, to keep the beads where I wanted I bent the wire just under them. This also creates a nice irregular pattern.

Each shape has two versions, thick and thin. Thin models have just a few layers to cast interesting half transparent shadows, thick are 2.5mm and cast more solid shadows.

The ends of wires can be rounded with pliers. Just take the last few millimetres of the wire with your pliers and turn the pliers around.

I printed this in transparent PLA, some semitransparent or even fully opaque filament might be cool too. Just be careful about heat form the candle.

print settings

Should be easy to print, just make sure your bed is super clean and prints are sticking well.

I encourage you to experiment, but these worked for me:

0.2 layer, 0.4 nozzle

infill

  • density 30%
  • pattern gyroid

in layers and perimeters:

  • top and bottom layer count 0
  • 1 perimeter
