I designed a simple 12V power distribution box for my new astrophotograpy rig.

FEATURES

  • Power IN: 12V, 5.5x2.1 socket plug ("jack") for the power input, e.g. from a battery pack.
  • Power OUT:
    • #5 DC socket plugs, 5.5x2.1
    • #1 DC RCA female plug
  • Protection: #1 blade fuse, 10A
  • Attachment points: multiple holes for M6 bolts

COMPONENTS

  • #6 12V socket plug 5521
  • #1 12V RCA plug
  • #1 blade fuse holder, sealed type
  • #1 fuse, 10A or whatever suits your load
  • 1.5 mm² insulated wire, red and black
  • some 5x, 3x and 2x wago connectors 221-413, or equivalent
  • #4 M3 self-tapping screws
  • heat shrink sleeves

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. solder 12-15 cm of wire to the plugs, positive central
  2. protect the soldered terminals with heat shrink sleeves
  3. mount the plugs in the holes of the box
  4. connect the fuse on one side to the positive wire of the IN plug and on the other side to a Wago connector
  5. connect all the positive wires to the wagos in parallel
  6. connect all the negative wires in parallel with wagos
  7. check with a multimeter for mistakes or polarity inversions (but it is really difficult to make a mistake)
  8. Close the lid with the M3 self-tapping screws

NOTES

I enclose the Fusion360 model for any modifications. I calculated some 4-5A max of power absorption, hence I used a 10A fuse
