Why?
KW and RCE coilovers composite lower spring perch and use a steel set screw to keep them in place. The problem is it's easy to strip the threads in the perch since the composite material is much softer than the steel set screw. Some coilovers use a second perch like a jam nut to fix the perch in place, but this would require buying more perches for $25 each and then removing the suspension from the car in order to install. For 86s, this also means getting a new alignment.
Solution
This 3D printed clamp keys into the features in the perch and keep it from rotating on the shock body. The clamp is split into 2 parts to allow installation without removing the coilover.
Notes
Printing the negative separately and pausing to insert them will result in the best quality on the overhanging section for the square nut.
Hardware recommendation
- M4 stainless square nuts (2 per coilover)
- M4 stainless hardware
