I designed this to fit width-wise inside of the Catalyst made Battletech boxes to help simplify my collection. You can fit six of them in a single box so you can store up to 30 models in a single box.
The model bases fit snugly in their hexes but not so tightly that they can't come out (or that they can't be shaken loose by flipping the box or rough carrying). The model also has hex shaped holes for planned but not yet designed additions to lock the rows together or to add a surface to hold maps/rulebooks on top of the models without letting them rub off your paint.
