You will need:
- NEMA 17 stepper motor
- Standard flange shaft mount for your motor shaft diameter
- A tripod with a ¼" thread (and a ¼" nut)
- ~12mm M3 fasteners
- 6" aluminium flashing, you can do bigger for bigger blades if you want
- Optional: M3 threaded rod the length of your blade
Any printer settings will do, I just used the default 0.2mm layer height with PLA.
Making the blades:
- Choose a length for your blades (I used the length of my forearm) and cut three pieces of aluminium flashing.
- Optional: Thread the M3 threaded rode into the blade print.
- Wrap each blade with the flashing, such that the middle of the flashing wraps the leading (fatter) edge of the blade, and the ends come together at the trailing end.
- Using glue and clamps, hold it in place till the glue dries.
Assembly:
- Mount the flange on your stepper motor.
- Bolt the stepper motor to your base using M3 fasteners.
- Bolt the hub to the stepper motor flange using M3 fasteners and nuts.
- Bolt each blade to the hub using M3 bolts.
