Orpheus- the legendary bard of Jason's Argonauts in Greek myth, who's music could tame man and beast alike. While your skill with this Orpheus might be able to enchant your hunting buddies, it's intended to help you create a unique sound profile for whatever game you might wish to call.

Orpheus is a modular game caller that features a seemingly limitless combination of parts that change it's tone and pitch. The majority of this print utilizes Polymaker High-Temp PLA, as PLA provides the best sound for this caller and it's high temperature resistance is perfect for use in the great outdoors. Toss it in your truck or in a pack on a hot summer hike and you can be certain it will still function as designed.

I'm trying something new! I have an overview of the caller on YouTube:

The Polymaker High-Temperature PLA I recommend for this build:

The TPU I used in this build:

I've been adding this beeswax to the threads and reeds in this model to ensure everything stays silky smooth:

Print all parts with 100% infill, or 99 walls. All meshes are exported in the appropriate printing orientation, no models for this project require supports.

At launch, Orpheus features 24 components:

One Mouthpiece

One Core, which features two male threads, a knurled portion for assembly/disassembly, and an integrated tone board

Two Wedges, one is solid and the other has an air bypass- these can be printed in PLA, but should be printed in TPU for best results.

Four Reeds:

  1. A pre-designed profile.
  2. An uncut DIY profile that can easily be shaped with scissors or a knife to your preferences.
  3. Pre-designed with an air bypass.
  4. DIY with an air bypass.

Six Resonators:

  1. A 60mm tall Standard Resonator with a plain finish.
  2. A 60mm Standard Resonator with a Waffle cut design. (Purely an aesthetic change from #1.)
  3. A 60mm "Bell" with a spherical volume modifier for lower pitched calls.
  4. A 60mm Standard with cuts to create a chirp/whistle.
  5. A 60mm "Bell" with cuts that combine a lower pitch and create a chirp/whistle.
  6. A 30mm Mini Resonator for higher pitched calls.

Five Sound Disks- these are inserted into the bottom of the Resonator, and secured by a Dust Cap/Retainer.

  1. A pitch increaser.
  2. A HIGH pitch increaser.
  3. A pitch decreaser.
  4. A LOW pitch decreaser.
  5. A whistle slot. (This file will be replaced, I encountered a false positive result once, and doesn't seem to work with subsequent prints. YMMV.)

Five Dust Caps/Retainers/Modifiers- these slip over the bottom of the Resonators and act as a Dust Cap, a Retainer for Sound Disks, or Modify the exit for advanced hand cupping techniques. These REQUIRE TPU/Flexible filaments to stretch over the Resonators

  1. A solid Dust Cap with no openings.
  2. A Retainer for Sound Disks.
  3. A semi-open "Mid" Retainer/Modifier.
  4. A Pinhole Modifier.
  5. A Cross Cut.

Launch components have a heavy focus on gamebird sounds, but more parts are planned.
All future file adds will be included in this post as packs, check back occasionally for any updates!

Planned/Future Components:

  1. A series of larger Resonators that work with printed grunt tubes.
  2. Alternative Mouthpieces.
  3. A Resonator tuned for fawn bleats.
  4. A few Resonators focusing on predator calls.
  5. Sound Disks and ditch the TPU retainer are possible, but might be locked to a single Resonator style. Sound disks that are part of a TPU cap might be more viable.
  6. Some sort of case, whether it's for all components or a single caller.
  7. High-pitched parts for pheasant, grouse, etc.
  8. Alternate Cores, Reeds, and Wedges that will be released probably within the first week of upload and feature a large shift in tone.

Fusion, .STEP, and .STLs are provided. All future uploads will feature .STEP and mesh files.
I'm interested in any parts the 3D community makes with this, and if there is a specific part you want made, but don't know how to make it a reality- leave a comment and I'll try to tackle it.
