I wanted to store my filament more visibly, so I came up with these shelf brackets. They slot into the uprights of an Errex shelf and require two 10mm diameter rods of some kind between them. In my 50cm deep shelf I can fit 7-8 spools per rack, depending on the spools (e.g. Sunlu uses narrower ones), and each filament can be grabbed easily with no rearranging required!

Per rack, you will need:

  • Two brackets: one printed normally and one mirrored (doesn't matter which way).
    • Don't forget the mirroring bit, the rods only go in one way!
  • Two rods of some kind with a diameter of 10mm and a length of 3cm less than your shelf depth.
    • This is because I used some old tent poles I had lying around, the brackets are designed around them.

I printed these in PETG but other rigid materials should work just fine, they're pretty beefy for the amount of weight that they actually take.

If you have rods of some other diameter lying around, I've included a STEP file that you can easily modify to suit your needs. I recommend thickening/shrinking the walls of the holes for easy one-step adjustment. Just remember to give it some extra to avoid having to violently force the rods in, the holes end up slightly smaller in the actual print. I used 0.3mm extra and that worked great.

Now that I think about it, this could be used to make a regular shelf as well… 🤔 I'd love to see a make if someone does it!
