After experiencing several issues with overheating on my Xfinity XB modems, I found that the airflow to cool the device was lacking. Through trial and error, I made several ad-hoc stands to find the right height to allow for the necessary airflow. After finding the correct height, I modified an existing stand for the XB7 to work with the XB8 while allowing for use with the previous models.
This will hold a modem that is 4.7" X 4.7" and the depth is .9" to the stand floor. Overall the stand is 2.4" tall
