This is a remix of the Focus Helicoid by amoser from the Printables website. https://www.printables.com/model/462315-open-camera-focus-helicoid

An interesting project that is defined as a “work in progress.”

It was not yet functional because a small detail was missing: As previously designed, the inner part (lens plate) must be secured against rotation with the part connected to the camera body. However, this does not apply to the middle rotating ring. This must be able to rotate freely so that the other two parts can be pushed apart. The helicoid was corrected accordingly.

In order to be able to print the middle rotating ring without supports, the horizontal surfaces on the inside were changed to 45°. The same applies to the thread angle.

The helicoid can now be printed well with a 0.4 nozzle and PLA (without supports).

When assembling, the two holes in the rear part and in the lens plate part must be aligned with each other. Two approx. 15 mm long M3 screws prevent these two parts from rotating so that they are pushed apart when the middle rotating ring is turned.

A little grease on the thread improves performance.
