description

This is a remake from scratch of @JonathanLevi's work.
https://www.printables.com/model/350716-benchy-display-for-honeycomb-storage-wall-hsw

• hex inserts thickness fixed
• hex inserts filled
• hex inserts every other hexagon
• narrower benchy chimney holes
• several lengths available
• no support needed

tldr please

Use the lattice-aligned × even hooks × long overhang set.
Hang boards one under the other by alternating hooks facing up and down.

misc/how to use

The HSW should be mounted flat-top, ie 2 faces of the hexagons are horizontal.

The board lengths are calculated to allow to hook several boards side by side in the same row with no space in between.

Insert the benchy by the bottom of its chimney, and slightly rotate it while pushing. The middle and top of the chimney are too thick for insertion/extraction; this ensures the benchies won't detach when accidentally touching them or touching the HSW.

The boards were designed to hang benchies from, but not to place them on top of. However, they are strong enough to do so.

Hang with the hook facing down, unless you want to hang benchies only on a dense display. Read the last paragraph just under this one.

vertical densities

If you hang boards of the same hook distribution one under the other, there will be much space between the benchies and the board below them. To get a denser display vertically, either:
• put benchies on the top of the boards; or
• alternate hooks facing up and down (the easiest); or
• alternate sets between long overhang × even hooks and short overhang × offset rows.

available sets

Read the below information only if you feel the lattice-aligned × even hooks × long overhang set doesn't cover your needs.

On a HSW lattice, 40.876 mm is the distance between 2 horizontally aligned hexagon centers.

horizontal densities

lattice-aligned: benchies are 40.876 mm apart, therefore aligned with a HSW column.
chaotic dense: benchies are 35 mm apart. No alignment to the lattice. No alignment between variants.

Benchies on the top of the board are offset relatively to hung benchies.

hook distributions

even hooks: hooks every other one. Good aesthetic.
offset rows: every set has a variant with the hooks redistributed so the same board can be attached to a row that is offset to, and the board keep its length and vertical position on the lattice. Use it only if you want a denser display on the vertical axis with benchies hung. If you put benchies on the top of boards, the even hooks vertical spacing will do. The overhangs of corresponding boards are opposite.

overhangs

long overhang: on the same row, 2 boards hung next to each other are hooked so there is 1 empty hexagon between them, which is also the even hooks hook distribution spacing.
short overhang: have a 1-benchy variant, can be used for more compact displays when wanting to add horizontal space between boards while keeping a vertical alignment.

HSW files: https://www.printables.com/model/152592-honeycomb-storage-wall

You need:
• a wall;
• probably attaches for the wall;
• an insert (insert-empty/insert-hollow) from original HSW files (cf above link) for each hook.
