If you've ever seen the viral IKEA VARMBLIXT on social media, then I'm pretty sure you know what this is about. This amazing lamp has one flaw - the light emitted by the stock light source has a rather cool temperature, and the lamp appears a little bit washed out. There are many ways to fix this, e.g. taping the LED strip inside with translucent orange tape.

This model is a an efficient and quick way to improve this - prints in under 1 hour using vase mode, uses just a little filament. The translucent orange filament diffuses the light, changes the colour to a warmer tone, and dims it just a bit. Adjust to you liking, print in different colours - the world is your oyster! Post your makes in the comments so we can enjoy these together!

You can see the final effect in the posted pictures - these were taken in manual white balance mode with manual exposure to better reflect the shift in colour temperature.

WARNING: Minimum assembly required! You have to make a small cut for the wires to pass through (see pictures) and apply a bit of hot glue around the circumference of the hood to make it stay in place (optional if you don’t plan to hang the lamp, and if you just keep it laying still). Ample sizing allows for the screw mount to be covered as well.

Attached you will also find .f3d files if any adjustments are needed.

PRINT INSTRUCTIONS:

Print in vase mode. 3 bottom layers are enough. I like to use 0.6 mm nozzle for extra sturdiness, but 0.4 mm prints just as fine (might want to experiment with changing default wall thickness, TBD)

Happy printing!
