Hi y'all! I made a DIY Home Security Door Reinforcement Lock (HSDRL) unlocker for my room door so that I can lock it and unlock it from the outside. I installed this boltlock thinking it would prevent people from coming in, but if anyone ever locked me out, there would be no solution. It's called Portcullis.

A portcullis originally guarded a castle's entrance, known for its waffle-like iron gates coming down to cover the entrance of the castle's archway following the moat bridge.

Portcullis is an automated system that mechanically unlocks home security door reinforcement locks (HSDRLs), with access protected by a passcode using a keypad. HSDRLs act as boltlocks when mounted onto the doorframe next to the door being locked. See below for more information.

This is my github link if you want to reproduce it, and you can find my video demo there as well. https://github.com/jaydenaleung/portcullis

I spent 92 hours, including one all-nighter, building this project. This was also made for Hack Club's 2025 Highway program - it was a very nice firsthand learning experience in electronics for me.
