This is a custom-designed USB-C Apple Magic Mouse mover case. It uses the internals from this Amazon unit, which was initially built for a traditional PC mouse. That design worked fine for most optical mice, but the Apple Magic Mouse’s sensor is positioned differently, so the stock housing didn’t line it up correctly, and the mouse would work its way off the unit. Additionally, as the Apple Magic Mouse has a very different shape than traditional mice, I had to cant the main surface by -30º to keep the mouse in the right position in the cradle.
I redesigned the case in Fusion 360 to reposition the moving platform and electronics so the Magic Mouse’s sensor sits exactly over the moving target area. The result is smooth, consistent motion detection without the “dead spots” the original had with Apple’s mouse.
The printed case is easy to assemble, uses the original screws and electronics, and has a slightly smaller footprint as the stock unit. Just swap the parts from the Amazon mover into this housing, plug it into a USB-C power source, and you’re set.
I made this because I needed a reliable way to keep my Magic Mouse active during long video calls, file transfers, and remote sessions without having to touch it every few minutes. If you are a Microsoft Teams user, you know the exact problem.
If you’ve tried the stock mover with a Magic Mouse and found it inconsistent, this design fixes that problem.
