Here we have a collection of models to make a foot rest, you will also need:

  • 6x 400mm batons (12x30mm with radiused edges)
  • 12x m4 30mm countersunk woodscrews
  • 1kg black pla
  • 1kg white pla
  • 200g accent pla

Printing advice:

All parts were printed at :

  • .28,
  • 5 walls,
  • 10% infill with adaptive cubic,
  • the sides all need x axis flipping to print the other side,
  • only a few needed supports, see model descriptions for guidance
  • most print alignment is obvious and you should follow your knowledge of your printer

Construction advice:

  • print all the parts, use a small hammer or small clamps to pressfit the bowties in place.
  • the black outer frame has sliding dovetails that only fit one way and will not come apart without breaking them, so make sure you have these right before you press them flush. a bit of lift on the sharp corners is not a worry as no junction part occurs on the corners.
  • hammer/clamp the white inner hex into the outer frame.
  • squeeze fit the slatbase hex's into the slatbase, leave the toe one out for the moment and fit the slat base to the inner hex mesh on one side.
  • line up your slats in the slots and mark through the screw holes onto the wood to allow you to see what to drill these out.
  • remove the slats and replicate onto the other end (i used one slat as a template for the others on my drill press).
  • remove the slat base and press in the toe hex, refit to the inner hex mesh.
  • build the back supporting brace, by pressing in the bowties, pushfitting the crossbrace base (make sure you respect the same alignement on each end), and fit the keystone part to the center. You may want to glue the brace to the inner hex for additional rigidity (i didnt, yet).
  • once this is in place, slot in your slats and carefully screw in the woodscrews, dont over tighten these or it'll just shred the plastic.

Update 01/12/2025: Thanks to the amazing spot by @dom_3059526 i've updated the crossbrace to include the bowtie cutouts, thanks @dom_3059526 !
