This is a fully 3D-printed pump conversion kit for the Nerf Rival Mirage. The mirage is one of the best springers in the Rival line, but the top rear prime and lack of foregrip make it unsuitable for competitive use. To address this, I've created this kit to convert the Mirage into a front pump blaster.
The stock mount shown in the photos is available as a separate model and can be found on my page.
The stock shown in the photos is not my design, however the aforementioned stock mount allows for the use of any picatinny stock. I also have a picatinny to N-Strike stock adapter on my page if you'd like to use a classic Nerf stock.
The grip shown in the photos is not my design. This kit is compatible with any picatinny foregrip (there are plenty of great options on Printables, or use a real steel one!).
This kit is designed to be as 3D-printed as possible. There are other kits available which require the use of metal or other non-printed parts. While those options may be more robust, I have had no issues or failures when testing my design.
This kit utilizes three of the screws from the original priming handle and requires no metal or machined parts. The entire kit can be 3D printed!
- Hardware required:
- 3 Screws taken from existing priming handle
- 4 #6-32 1" button-head screws with nuts
- Printing Instructions (PLA works just fine for all pieces):
- Left and Ride Slides:
- large, flat surface down on built plate
- prints fine without supports, but some support may enhance screw-hole integrity
- 3+ walls preferred for cylindrical portion, low infill is okay
- Primer:
- Put the forward-facing surface down on the build plate so that the arms are standing up in the air
- 3+ walls for PLA, stronger filaments might not need it
- 20%+ infill, gyroid is my go-to
- Print slowly and with smaller layer height for better surface finish
- Brim or raft might help with bed adhesion, but I had no issues with either PETG or PLA on a bed slinger
- Front End:
- Some portions will need to be supported, but if your support settings are dialed in it should look fine (mine are not great, but good enough for me)
- screw holes print fine with 0.2 mm layer height without supports, but the muzzle brake portion struggles
- Lower layer height is preferred for a smoother surface finish
- Some portions will need to be supported, but if your support settings are dialed in it should look fine (mine are not great, but good enough for me)
- Left and Ride Slides:
- Assembly Instructions:
- Remove the original priming slide by unscrewing the four screws (save three for later)
- Remove the sling mount from the front of the blaster (nowhere for it to go in my design, sorry /:)
- Slide the Front End over the three Rival rails on the front of the blaster, making sure to seat it as far back as it will go
- Use the four #6-32 1" screws and nuts to fix the front end to the blaster
- Slide the Primer over the Front end
- Insert the Left and Right Slides into the dovetail connections on the Primer
- Press the Left and Right Slides firmly together and ensure the screw holes are lined up with the existing mounting locations
- Use three of the black screws from the original slide to fix the new slide pieces together (any screw will work in any hole)
- Attach a picatinny foregrip of your choosing to the rail on the Primer
- Optional: Apply some lubricant to the Front End and Primer to help the parts slide and reduce the sound a bit
- Start Blasting
If you try this kit, I'd love to see your makes!
