Upgrade your Prusa XL with a rock-solid Camera Mount that integrates seamlessly into the stabilizer system.

This mount can be used in two ways:

Standalone – install it as a dedicated camera bracket.

Hybrid – replace one of the stabilizer mounts from the Rack-Stabilizer Brackets project here with this version. You keep the vibration-reducing stability plus a fully adjustable camera mount on top.

The mount features:

Dual-axis adjustment – tilt & swivel for perfect angles.

Webcam housing – designed for standard USB webcams, with an extra universal plate for custom mounts.

Cable management – route the USB cable neatly inside the XL’s unused aluminum slot cover.

Expandable setup – connect your webcam to a Raspberry Pi for OctoPrint, Prusa Connect, or DIY timelapse projects (tutorial + GitHub repo coming soon about ned August).

Perfect for monitoring prints, making timelapses, or streaming your XL in action.

The instructions are for the version on the right side. I provide also the files for the left side. Same procedure only mirrored.

Print Instructions

Material: PETG (recommended)

Layer height: 0.20 mm (important for fit & tolerances)

Perimeters: 3

Infill: 20% Gyroid

Supports: Required for:

swivel plate (rotation part)

webcam housing block

I would recommend u to print with “SOLUBLE FULL” supports, I did it with PLA supports and it came out great!

Color: Optional – I used Prusa Orange.

Hardware

2x M5x9.5 mm brass threaded inserts (CNC Kitchen / Prusa) (optional, only if using the Rack-Stabilizer)

3x M3x5.7 mm brass threaded inserts (CNC Kitchen / Prusa)

2x M5 screws, 8 mm thread length (optional, only if using the Rack-Stabilizer)

M3 screws (for camera housing adjustments): 1x 40mm, 1x 10mm, 1x 6mm (spare from PrusaPrinters)

1x 19” rack blank panel (if used with stabilizer system)

Assembly Guide

Print all required parts.

Heat-insert M5x9.5 brass inserts into the mount base (same as stabilizer).

Heat-insert M3x5.7 brass inserts into the camera swivel & housing parts.

On the left image you can see that I already glued the small circular part in place. I don’t have full assembly photos yet, but the process is simple:

Insert the first M3 heat insert into the center hole of the base part (without the circular piece attached yet).

Place the circular piece on top. I used a small drop of superglue to keep it in place.

⚠ Make sure the side hole of the circular piece is properly aligned with the hole in the base!

Insert an M3x6 screw into the center hole and tighten it firmly – but don’t overtighten.

Now insert the second M3 heat insert into the side hole. You need to press/melt it through the circular part so that it sits halfway in both the circular piece and the base.

Tip: From the surface of the circular piece to the top of the insert I measured about 2 mm depth.

Let the glue and inserts settle for a while before continuing.

Insert the final heat insert into the swivel axis part.

I recommend using a 3 mm drill to clean and align the holes where the swivel part connects to the camera housing.

If using standalone: insert mount into the Prusa XL side bracket.

If using hybrid: replace one of the stabilizer mounts with this version.

Mount the swivel plate onto the base. Secure with M3 screws.

Install the camera housing or your own custom plate.

Insert your USB webcam. Tilt & swivel to the desired angle and close the lid.

The webcam box is L: 80mm  H: 25.5mm  W:28mm, if this doesn't fit ur cam, I included only the socket for mounting it on the Printer, u can glue your cam on it or design a own case for it.

Route the USB cable neatly into the unused slot with the original XL profile covers.

(Optional) Connect to a Raspberry Pi and set up Prusa Connect / OctoPrint / timelapse.

Fun Note

Your XL just got eyes. 👀 Now it doesn’t just print like a beast – it also stares at you while doing it. Perfect for timelapses, print streams, or showing off on the internet.
