Designed to recess the Half Decent Scale into the drip tray.
I recommend selecting Print with supports on build plate in Slicer

Although it would be possible to use the HDS with the USB-C cable connected, doing so will be challenging to ensure it doesn't effect weighing and to ensure the connection stays dry.

I recommend using a silicone USB-C cover/plug to protect the port from water.
In which case it would be best to have the de1app's “Keep scale on” settings (settings > App > Misc) turned off.
Having “Keep scale on” turned off will mean the de1app will power off the HDS when you put the de1app to sleep, rather than just turn the HDS display off. Doing this will significantly reduce battery usage, meaning the HDS will need charging much less frequently.
You will have to remember to manually power on the HDS whenever you wake the machine/de1app though, and ensure it connects to the de1app.

Having the HDS buttons disabled while connected to the de1app is a good idea too, this will prevent false button actions if the touch pad was to get wet.
To do this, enter the HDS setup menu, by powering up the scale on by holding both buttons at the same time until the setup menu shows.
Then use the circle button to scroll to “>Button with BLE3/3”
Tap the square button to enter, select the Disable Buttons option and tap the square to select.

If you prefer a more set and forget, always connected HDS setup, I recommend using the https://www.printables.com/model/1236225-hds-adaptor with wireless power option. That is the set up I use.
