This is the fidget spinner model that I made during the STEM Starter program.
This was a refresher on how to use Onshape, while following a tutorial series on YouTube (the complete playlist can be found here). Again, the 3D-designed bearing was not used. Instead, the PGN Unsealed/Open ball bearing (8×22×7) was used. This is a photo of the ball bearing used:

I put subtractive holes in the spinner to make my design unique. I also put my name on the hub caps.
Lastly, I made a alternate design version for the Bambu A1 mini - as the actual print output seemed to be about 0.15mm thinner at the radial stem compared to the original computer design:
- The central stem on the hub cap is supposed to have a diameter of 8.0mm, but I had to use a diameter of 8.15mm on the A1 mini.
- If you use the A1 mini specific files, then the snap-on fit will be tight and will not accidentally fall off. If you want to remove the hub cap without breaking it, then carefully use a long slender blade/knife to lever the hub cap off.
- If you would prefer a looser hub cap fit when printing on the A1 mini, then change the central stem diameter to 8.10mm.
- This fit will be much easier to remove by hand, although it may easily fall off if the assembled fidget spinner is kept in a bag.
Also, I printed one-color and two-color print variant with the height coloring tool in Bambu Studio. If I were to make this model again, then I would create the design differently so that the letters could be colored in Bambu Studio with the Fill color option.
Update log
- 8/31/2025: Fixed uploaded G-code/3MF, as my Bambu Studio client lost its correct settings (0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, 15% infill, and mostly default settings for standard quality - except case-by-case basis for tree supports). The August 2025 update defaulted to 0.2mm nozzle and 0.1mm layer height.
