This is a small all-purpose container with a unique aperture opening. The lid uses 9 blades that snap into position without any glue or screws. The top and bottom parts of the container also connect via a simple snap-fit ridge, making assembly quick and tool-free.
The design is fully 3D-printable and optimized for hobby printers:
- Printer used: Bambu Lab A1 Mini
- Nozzle size: 0.40 mm
- Layer height: 0.20 mm
- Supports: Tree supports (30° threshold)
The mechanism works smoothly when printed with standard PLA, but other materials may also be used. The result is a practical little container that can hold small items (like dice, coins, earbuds, or craft supplies) while showing off a fun and mechanical iris-style lid.
Tips for printing and assembly:
- Ensure clean supports removal around the hinge slots.
- Test-fit the blades before snapping them all in.
This project is perfect if you enjoy mechanical prints, functional designs, and fidget-worthy containers.
