These one-time use mixing cups are intended for use with my coaster mold kit.
Directions for pouring a multi-color coaster like shown:
- Using a 1:1 epoxy resin, fill the ‘PRT1’ cup with part A and part B resin to the designated indication lines. Stir thoroughly as directed by the epoxy instructions.
- Mix in the epoxy dye and blend thoroughly.
- Pour the dyed epoxy into the outer ring section of the coaster mold. The ‘PRT1’ volume is calculated to fill up the outer ring section, with a slight margin for surplus. Do not overfill, causing the dyed epoxy to spill over the ring insert.
- After pouring the dyed epoxy, this section needs to partially cure to avoid color bleeding - for a slow cure epoxy, I recommend 1.5 hours, but refer to your epoxy description for calculating the proper time to tackiness.
- After the colored section has partially cured, mix your 1:1 epoxy into the ‘PRT2’ mixer, and fill the mold up to just below the brim. This epoxy does not need to be dyed, but feel free to experiment!
- Once the epoxy has hardened, unclamp the mold and carefully shear apart (pulling apart in tension will not work due to the coaster's brim).
- Let the coaster fully cure before attempting any polishing. Recommend blending from 120 grit to ~1000 grit for a refined surface finish. Buff with wax for a true polished shine.
