I liked the original model and felt it was ideal to use in the storage space I have available. I decided to make it thinner (30mm to 15mm) to use less filament and used PETG with increased strength setting, including Gyroid infill pattern.
I couldn't find 15mm rods and as I had 9.5mm dowel on hand, I decided to rather than change the 15mm holes, I would make 15mm inserts that would have an inside diameter to accommodate the 9.5mm dowels. This also gave me the opportunity to close in the end of the inserts to make assembly easier and have a tidier finish.
As the existing model was too large for my printer, I placed it at an angle and used auto tree supports. This worked quite well. The finish is sometimes patchy but given the purpose of the print, it was acceptable. It took over 9 hours for each print.
