After creating a similar exhaust adapter for my Core One, I decided to design one for our office's Qidi Q2. This adapter takes the Qidi Q2 exhaust to a 120mm PC case fan, with another adapter to 4" exhaust hose that will be run to a roof vent.
If you would like to position the fan further way from the printer, you can mount the two flanges together and go straight to the 4" hose. If done this way, you can print two more of the straight flanges to house a fan further down the hose path.
You will most likely need to mount the fan toward the right side of the printer or downward (if it is overhanging the desk surface) so that it doesn't impede the poop chute or the glass lid during use. I tested mine to the left to see if the chute will clear, and although it clears the poop chute, it was too close to the OEM spool mounting location. For the time being I've routed it to the right and looped back under to the left. I'll be removing the spool holder soon though, and will orient the exhaust toward the left again, since that is where my exhaust pipe is routed.
Needed hardware:
One 120mm pwm PC case fan --I used a fairly powerful (and heavy) Iceberg Thermal 120mm high flow fan rated to 127 cfm. **I removed the rubber pads to eliminate gaps. ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08XLV8M6T?amp=&= )--
One 4 pin PWM fan controller --I'm using an Owl Tree pwm controller from amazon that powers from a standard USB-A wall adapter. ( https://www.amazon.com/Controller-Splitter-15-18W-1-2-1-5A-Output/dp/B0DPZM7T3Q?sr=8-2 )--
Four small screws to mount the flange to the holes on the back of the printer. I used some extra screws with course threads [type for sheet metal or cutting into plastic]) from my Prusa conversion. They thread into the plastic holes that align with the exhaust fan below. The flange holds securely once installed.
Eight standard PC case fan screws (or four longer machine threaded screws w/ nuts) to sandwich the fan between the flanges. --I used 6-32 x 1.5" screws with flat washers on the head side, which fit perfectly.--
Printing considerations:
Material - I used VoxelPETG+, which printed beautifully on the Q2.
Orientation - You'll need to re-orient the larger 90 degree model to sit on the modeled support fins. This places the smaller flange at a 50deg angle to the build plate, and allows you to print the entire model with only a bit of support at the upper arch of the smaller opening. Set the overhang threshold to 30 in the slicer and place support blockers on the tops of all of the holes in both flanges and the connection piece between the flanges. This connection piece was used to avoid the need for break away supports for the larger flange. The 120mm fan to 4" piece prints flat on it's flange surface,
Modifiers - Consider adding more perimeters OR 100% infill modifiers at the screw holes so that tightening the flanges together will not crush the infill of the flanges.
*As always with organic shaped models, I HIGHLY recommend downloading the .STEP files instead .STL, as they tend to retain their smooth curves. Fusion360 tends to simplify the .STL files a bit causing them to be divided into faceted circles when brought into the slicer. I've included the STL here so that you can open them in the model viewer, which doesn't work for .STEP files.
** Thanks to feedback from @Will_4170225, I realized that I had made a mistake in the design that kept the model from sitting flat on the support fins, and in some cases caused print failures due to a non-flat first layer. I've corrected the chamfer angle in the v2 files, and the model should print as intended now. My apologies for any failed prints that resulted from this mistake, and I extend a huge thank you to @Will_4170225 for discovering this error and bringing it to my attention.
