This is a tape dispenser created by Danish designer Torben Holmback. It is in the design collection at MoMA NYC (https://www.moma.org/collection/works/3186). I created this model in Fusion. Original material is anodized aluminum. The 3D print will need to be mounted to a heavy base to prevent it sliding around when you're trying to dispense tape. I'm planning to mount mine on a steel or brass plate.

First print photos are posted (unsanded). I think it looks great, very accurate to the original. But there's a problem with the teeth for cutting the tape: they don't work, like, at all. I'm going to try afixing a small section of a hacksaw blade for the cutter.

Update: I sanded off the printed teeth and superglued a piece of hacksaw blade in their place. It works great now. I also sanded the entire body in preparation for painting but I like the rough sanded finish so I think I’ll leave it like this. Just need to add a heavy base now.

Update: I extended the body (this is closer to the original Holmback design) and added a cavity in the base similar to what I did with the Pencil Holder (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7059501). This allows you to add self-adhesive wheel weights to give it some heft. The cavity is designed to hold these wheel weights (Amazon: https://a.co/d/1S71y2b) in a 3 high stack of 2x2 weights. I left the original design file here as well. I've added pictures of the finished version with the weights.
