I want to roll my office chair over the threshold between the office and the next room. Threshold ramps are commercially available, but I wanted a custom size. In Thingiverse's customizer you can set the height of the ramp, the length of the threshold, and by setting the width of the ramp how steep the slope is.

In Thingiverse's customizer theparts pop-up to get STLs for your left, middle, and right.

In the finished photo, you can see I used 2 lefts, 8 middles, and 2 rights.

Measure your threshold. Subtract Width, since that will be the amount of the threshold touched by the half-round endcaps. Call that numberThesholdMiddleLength divideThesholdMiddleLength by (the usable dimension of your printer minus twenty (to allow for the printing skirt and the connecting knob between the pieces)) then round that number up to the nearest integer. That's the number of copies of the middle piece you'll need,Num. Now doThesholdMiddleLength divided byNum = that is what you should set Length to in the Customizer.

In the example STLs I've posted. I used

Height = 7.4; /* distance above the floor*/

Length = 197; /* Along the threshold edge (protruding knob not counted.)*/

Width = 80; /* bigger values give shallower slope*/

But the point of this Thing is that you can get whatyou need.

If Customizer doesn't work for you, download the .scad file and open it in OpenSCAD - free cross-platform software from OpenSCAD.org I've included a screenshot here of how it looks for me in OpenSCAD.

I used thin double-sided tape to attach the pieces to the floor.

I printed in PLA, 25% infill, 0.15 layer height.

In my test print, I used 5% and 0.3 layer height. The test print worked, but felt coarse when I rolled the chair over it, and it made ominous cracking sounds.

PLA, 25% infill, 0.15 layer height was smoother and stronger.
