This is an improved design of a 3D printed tapping arm for hand taps (Ø12mm shaft), made to be sturdier, easier to build, and more reliable than other versions.
Key Improvements:
- No more loose/wobbly base – Fixed with a single 3×30 mm countersunk self-cutting wood screw.
- No inserts required – The front plate can be secured either with 4pcs of 3×30 mm screws or standard M3 heat-set inserts just like in the original design.
- No accidental breakage of the tool tip – The tap holder is reinforced with 4 × 30 mm long, 4 mm PTFE tubes (fill them with toothpicks for even more stiffness).
- No supports needed – A built-in 45 degree chamfer on the base ensures the perfect print orientation without supports.
Why this design?
✔ Rock-solid base – no wobble during tapping
✔ Flexible fixing options – screws or inserts
✔ Drop-resistant tool holder
✔ Easy, support-free 3D print
