During vacation with friends the original guard for my Microplane zester got lost. Dang! So a replacement needed to be found…
I've tried this model wasn't quite happy with it: the fit was too loose.
So I've done what every sane person would do on a Sunday morning and put the guard from my other Microplane onto the flatbed scanner, fired up FreeCAD and modeled a replacement that's a lot closer to the original.
The design is not super accurate - if you zoom in on a big screen it looks like a children's drawing of this guard… But that is not visible in the final print 🙃
This version neatly clamps on the inside of the zester, just like the original did. All other surfaces stay away from the sharp teeth of the device. It fits so tight, that it can not slide of the zester by accident.
The top face is fully flat, so you can add some text in your slicer as desired. (Take al ook at my photo for some inspiration.)
FreeCAD file (including the scan!) attached, so you can modify it to your heart's content.
