Finding myself doing a job where I had more lenses needing iris rings than I had rings available I decided to just model and print the rings I needed. This was modeled specifically to match the thickness and fit of stock rings, and was tested on an actual Focus/Iris unit. I recommend ABS or PETG for these, PLA should work but they may not hold up for the long run.
Print Settings:
- Infill: Rectilinear 100%
- Supports: None
- Tested Materials: ABS (Core One) PETG (Mk3S+)
- Seams: I am continuing to test various ways of hiding the Z seam, for now I recommend aligning the notch to the back of the build plate and selecting “Rear” for seam position. To me this created the least noticeable seam as it aligns it with the notch and therefore doesn't interfere with any tape or markings. Scarf seams have so far been counterproductive as it just creates two smaller seams. I will update this page if I make progress on this issue.
