For the counterweight,  I used a lead slab of approx 150 x 90 x 1.6 mm that I rolled up to a cylinder of 90 mm long and about 16 mm in diameter. This goes into the 3D printed counterweight holder with a bit of hot glue.

The ball bearings I had were bearings with a round nylon tread instead of the V-shaped type. They are suited for M5 bolts. I also needed spacers with a length of 10 mm to offset the bearings by the right amount to enable the carriage to move without touching the 40 x 20 profile.

I added the OpenSCAD design files.

Printing:

  • Prusament PLA, 0.15 mm layers (default SPEED settings in Prusa Slicer work out fine)
  • supports are necessary with some of the overhangs

For assembly, please follow the description by dbmaking.info (the original press).
