After mostly positive experiences with an MR105 bearing based filament guide on my MK3S and MK2.5 I had a few durability problems I wanted to solve. I decided to start with F6702 flanged bearing. Not a common choice but not hard to find. After looking at existing models I based it on a pretty good 608 bearing design and improved where I thought I could. It would probably print okay without supports on the gantry clips but I added them just to be safe.
Hardware:
- 3x F6702 flanged bearings
- 4x M3 x 12mm socket or button cap screws
- 1x M3 x 8mm socket or button cap screws
- 5x M3 hex nuts
Assembly:
- Press four hex nuts into pockets in rollerB (1) and gantry_clipB (3)
- you will likely need to pull the nut into place with a screw from the other side
- Place one hex nut and two bearings (flanges to outside) into place on rollerB
- Place rollerA on top of roller B and secure with M3 x 12mm screw
- Slip joint_inner_post onto the hexagonal post the completed roller (flange towards body)
- Slip bearing over joint_inner_post with flange towards roller body
- Slip joint_inner_screw into bearing (will index onto hexagonal post)
- Secure pivot stack with one M3 x 8mm screw
- Clamp the pivot bearing between gantry_clipA and gantry_clipB
- bearing flange should seat into slot in the bearing recess
- Secure with three M3 x 12mm screws
- check that roller and pivot bearings rotate freely
