A replacement pull tab for the enclosed, retractable measuring tapes. Fix yours before the tab breaks and these convenient little tapes are lost forever indside the body!
HARWARE: M2x4mm used with a nut, fits perfectly w/o extra threads showing past the nut. I have been using the world-reknowned and reliable precision brand “K Kwokker” on Jeffazon. YMMV. https://www.amazon.com/Kwokker-2410Pcs-Assortment-Upgraded-Machine/dp/B0D95SR2HM/ref=ast_sto_dp_puis?th=1
INSTALL
- Remove the old tab (make sure your tape doesnt retract! I brought out some of the measuring tape and taped it to the body to prevent this) With a straight/frayless cut. I tried to burn the edge to seal- it did not help. Clean enough cut as is.
- Install tape into slit on new tab
- Use a hot needle to burn new hole in the tape (to prevent rips from a puncture)
- Insert M2x4mm bolt and affix nut
- Measure more stuff worry-free!
TIPS
I printed this in PLA.
When printed with the largest face paralell to the bed, the slit for the tape may be a bit small (hence the v2 on this model). With a very thin blade you can open up the slit a bit (I used the classic swiss army knife tweezers) but printing in a vertical orientation, slit up, may yield better results.
Works well with this pegboard holder! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6686608#google_vignette
