Build your own KVM with a Raspberry Pi 4 and some extra parts.

Bill of Materials:

I have listed everything needed, but feel free to substitute with items you may already own.

Directions:

  1. Screw on handles with M2 x 6mm self-tapping screws
  2. Install the USB splitter with M2.5 x 6mm bolts and nuts.
  3. Install the ribbon cable to the Pi 4 that was in the X630 package.
  4. Use M2 x 6mm self-tapping screws to affix the OLED cover
    • Note: Make sure cutout on OLED cover is facing the circuits on OLED.
  5. Plug in the USB C plug into the splitter plug inside the drawer then plug the other end into the power jack on the Raspberry Pi 4.
  6. Attach Pi 4 to plate by screwing in screws to the 2x standoffs to secure the board.
  7. Assemble the X630 per the directions, but don't use their standoffs, attach to the 2x printed standoffs instead using the screws mentioned above and not from their kit.
  8. Screw in the back Pi 4 screws or attach the optional fan mount.
  9. Connect your PiKVM v2 per the instructions here: https://docs.pikvm.org/v2/

Notes:

  • The USB C to USB A connects from the left USB C port on the front of the PiKVM v2 drawer to the USB A port of the computer you are wishing to control.
  • The HDMI to HDMI connects from the HDMI input from the PiKVM v2 drawer to the HDMI port of the computer you are wishing to control.
